About Mojgan

A well known Designer in the south west region of England for exclusive designs of bridal couture and eveningwear, is Mojgan label.

Iranian born Mojgan Noorian Bellamy is the face and the Designer behind Mojgan Bridal Couture based in Bournemouth. Mojgan's journey from schoolgirl to a UK fashion house owner is a fine example of one woman's determination to succeed in a very fickle and challenging industry.

Her story of starting a business at a young age, with little money and no high profile contacts, offers hope and inspiration to those in a similar position with a dream.

Mojgan first came to the UK at the age of 14 from Iran, as a result of religious persecution. Friends were being persecuted for their Bahá'í Faith which include imprisonment, torture and even execution. A Bahá'í could not study at university nor leave country - resulting in a bleak future.

Mojgan arrived in the UK without her parents and unable to speak English. She started school and managed to gain O and A-Levels with an imprudent aim to work in IT. However, an essentially creative person she lasted just one year in IT. Determined to work in a creative industry she then spend next four years working part time to finance her Fashion Design Degree at Bournemouth Arts Institute.

On completion of her Fashion Design education in 1992, Mojgan gained experience working for Designers such as Jasper Conran and Dee Ismael and Dianne Le Borgne. It was during this time that she realized that because of her knowledge of fashion she could not work for anyone else.

She applied to the Prince's Trust for finance to begin her dream. She managed to pass the criteria and convinced the judges to offer her a £3000.00 injection of money to start up her first design studio. Without this money it would have been difficult to start the business. Shortly afterwards, Mojgan Bridal Couture was officially opened by the actor Graham Beakley.

Since then Mojgan has gone from strength to strength. She shows her catwalk and collection twice a year at Olympia and Earls Court in London - which has been a great success. In fact now most of her clients travel to her from London as a result of her beautiful collection.

She has been chosen by the Prince's Trust to give a speech at St James Palace to entrepreneurs about investing in new businesses. She was also chosen to judge the Miss England contest.

Mojgan's designs are now so much in demand, that she has relocated to much bigger premises and employs a team of assistants.

Each bridal gown is designed and made to measure. She can cater for all ladies wedding dress requirements, regardless of wealth or background.

Mojgan believes she makes every woman look and feel like a princess.

Mojgan says: “I feel really honoured to be the Designer for the most important day of a woman's life. I give them confidence, excitement, and grace and beauty on their special day”.

I feel this is a gift that not every Designer can achieve. It comes from a sense of warmth, kindness and humanity — and most of all trust.”
